Revolution

I'm writing a book based in 2013 about a global revolution. I need more character names so If you comment on this I could try and work you into the story somehow. Here's the first chapter:

1. The Jeep

The cargo bay of an armoured Jeep; dark, damp. A thin shaft of light illuminated the dust that hung like stars in the air. The vehicle shook and juddered as it rambled over the rocky terrain. The 4x4 was making its way along a meandering track in the Peruvian Andes. The only people within one hundred kilometres were the driver, and the two prisoners; Matt and Harriet.
The Jeep stopped. Several moments later, crisp daylight streamed into the bay. A large, muscular man in desert camouflage was the only thing breaking the panoramic vista of the snow-covered mountain peaks.
“The road is blocked,” he grunted in a deep, Latin-American accent. “It will have to happen here.” He grabbed Harriet firmly by the wrist and yanked her into the open. He signalled with his other hand for Matt to follow. “Both of you, put your hands on your heads and turn around,” he took a small two-way radio that was clipped to his belt and spoke rapidly into it in Spanish. He removed a pistol from a holster under his left arm and began to load a magazine into it.
“I love you,” Matt whispered to Harriet, trying to keep his head pointing forwards so as not to see her cut and bruised face.
“You keep quite,” snarled the man.
“Please don’t do this!” Harriet yelled, trying desperately to hold back her tears.
“That’s it! I kill your little boyfriend in front of your face!” the driver roared furiously. He stormed over to Harriet who was paralysed by fear, and violently swung his arm around her neck and grabbed Matt’s jaw with his hand. The other hand held the gun to Matt’s temple.
“You’re insane!” she protested, half screaming half crying.
“SHUT UP! Any more from you and I’ll find a much slower way to kill the both of you!” the man barked, finding it impossibly hard to contain his wrath. Matt clenched his teeth, waiting for the inevitable; every second that passed seemed like a life time. The man placed his finger on the trigger. Matt closed his eyes. The man began the squeeze the trigger. Matt, with his hands still on his head, swung his elbow around vigorously, smacking the man arm, and the gun, away from his head. The weapon went off in the air, sending a shock wave through the cold air. Harriet kicked back with her foot, span round and grabbed the gun by the barrel, twisted it and tore it out of the man’s grasp.
Harriet had the gun and there was no escape for the man; a sheer rock face on one side, a three hundred metre drop on the other. He started to back away. “I did not want to kill you,” he said, in a much weaker voice than last time, “I was only carrying out orders,” he continued backing away.
“Watch out behin…!” Matt shouted, but it was too late, the man lost his footing on the crumbling edge of the road, tripped backwards and plummeted screaming into the forest bellow.
“Oh my god!” Harriet screamed, not quite sure whether what had just happed was her fault.
“That’s gonna’ hurt in the morning,” Matt replied wittily. He walked over and held her in his arms. “Come on, there must be another radio in the Jeep,” he declared, changing the subject.

No more College!

Yippee! Yesterday was my last day on the year! It was a good day though. We all did mono printing. I wish I'd have known 'cus I'd have bought alto more stuff to use for bases for the prints. This unit, you see, is about creating book to capture a sense of place. Not really written books, but they do have to contain an element of typography. I've chosen Hambledon Hill as my place and so far have come up with: A film or animation of some sort, haiku poetry, panoramic concertina book and something about a performance that happened there last September. This is the performer, I started the article. Not very long I know, but it's a start.

Unit 4

Unit four is entitles "Visual Communication", which turns out to be books and typography, yippy!!! So far we've done one studio session, about different ways book binding and I have absolutely no idea what I'll be doing tomorrow!

Units 2 & 3 Complete!

I finished units two and three of my ND the other week and handed them in for assessment. I got the results on Friday, there were two grades (one for each unit), either pass (2 points), merit (4 points), or distinction (6 points). I already had 4 points from my first unit, and for these two...

...a distinction for each! which brings me to a total of 16 points. I have to get atleast 36 points to pass, which means I'm 10 points ahead of the game!

Legalities and Habbo

I was a member of a Habbo fansite and over the weeks jot a job there and got all the way to Assistant News Manager when I harmlessly decided to make a radio adaption of a serial by a guy called ***** (name censored). I uploaded it to the staff forum and was bombarded with legal threats and abuses through the that box system. Any way my friend the community manager (who was involved with the concerned audio file) and he tried to get ***** round to our way of thinking, didn't really work. Until we resigned. Now everyone is begging us back.

River, Looking North

River, Looking North, originally uploaded by Finn Margrie.

I took this photo today out on the River Stour right next to my house. I really like the perspective of it and the reflections in the calm water. I'm probably going to base a drawing or painting on it because of the contrast of the sky above and water below. (My current unit at collage is on contrast)

Other Margries???

I was searching through Skype contacts for Margrie and found Jeremy Margrie in Australia! We got talking and he said that there are only about 11 Margries in Australia and they were all related. I thin I should dig deeper and find out about my family history. But I do have a reletive who lives in Australia but I don't think he was on the Margrie side for the family.

Test over!

I did the science GCSE past paper and I sort of feel that I did okay. At the moment I'm listening to one of my favorite songs - Here Comes the Sun - by (of course) The Beatles. Next on my play list are some great songs from the Over the Hedge Soundtrack. I thought it was a great film. Some of the story line was a little weak but the music and voice talent was good. I would give it... 6, no... 7 out of 10. I'm doing it again, aren't I? I can no longer watch a film without thinking "Ooh good CGI" or "The music isn't perfect for this scene". That's the price you have to pay for watching films with a BAFTA judge.

I better got on with some science then!

I have to get a science GCSE from a couple of years ago done, sorting out the questions into ones I can do, one that are OK and ones that I'm not sure of. For the latter group I have to go through them again with the revision guide to find the answer, I just want to LIVE!

On a side note - if anyone out there uses Game Maker, how does one make an up and down moving platform, I sort of did it but the player object got stuck and I decided to for get the idea. Also if any of you have idea for levels I would appreciate them. It is a platform game based in the vaults of Habbo Hotel. The game is called Tobbin - Habbo Thief, after something by brother said after seeing Wayne's World - "In France she would be called 'le renard' and would be hunted with only her cunning to protect her" - But he changed she for he and le renard for tobbin to describe his friend Toby.

Maths today

I was supposed to have my online maths/ICT tutor last Wednesday but his phone line was down so he couldn't teach. Today, though, his Internet was back and we did algebra. I thing you'll find me weird and never read this blog again if I say this, but I kind of like algebra, I sort of find it satisfying getting all the numbers and letters in order and working out the calculation. I am also ashamed to say that if I ever need turning on (sexually) I head website selling scientific calculators or HD video cameras.

I found a video on You Tube of a guy who took his photo every day for eight years. EIGHT! All aligned perfectly. It astonishes me how people don't forget to do it. I'd love to do one but, like many of my previous blogs I forget about them and they die and I just dust them in the the eternal wasteland of the recycling bin.

Last night I went to Kez's house and watched, oh sorry, judged a bit of Happy Feet, some Running With Scissors and the whole of Flushed Away on her BAFTA DVD player. I didn't particularly like Running With Scissors and Happy Feet didn't seem to have a very strong story line, but Flushed Away (which I had seen at the cinema previously) had a beginning, a middle and an end, a good story line, comedy and good British actors.

Yet another paragraph. I have discovered that I love manga. I have even been driven to start drawing! With a pencil and paper! Uncommon thing in my technological world, where art is something that you do in Photoshop or Illustrator. I drew one that I really liked so I put it into my computer and traced it in Photoshop. Then, realising the error of my ways, imported it into illustrator and then exported it into an astonishingly massive JPEG image. You can see it at http://finniii.deviantart.com/.

Hasta la vista, reader!

Am I... famous?

I just did a search of my name and loads of pages came up, with MY You Tube films and fonts on! Does that make me famous, or do I need fan sites about me, forums, my picture on buses, an island the size of Australia made in the shape of my head in the middle of the Atlantic? Anyway, 10 pages is a lot!!! Last January it was 3 results, now it is 340! *Faints*. Even the Chinese know about me! I used a Chinese song for the background of a time lapse and now it is one a Chinese site!!! I don't believe it!

Saying a big hello to all of you in blog land...

Hi, I'm Finn Margrie. My day today - It is the last day of my holidays today (technically) although I'm not sure weather my science tutor will turn up or not. But on Friday I have my other tutor who, unfortunately, will be turning up. Being the first day back with her, it probably won't anything very difficult, maybe just some art and geography.

I have recently gotten into Runescape and I have made quite a fey gold coins in the three days that I've been registered. I'm "Wild Finn15" if your ever on. I love doing the quests as most of them have a good reward at the end, which is always quite satisfying.

Next Saturday (14th) I'm going up to Bristol to be an extra in the film my aunt is making. She needs 18th century "urchins" as a bit of backing shooting. It's a program about slavery for CBBC called something like "Angellica's Journey" the presenter being the CBBC presenter Angellica Bell. Kez (my aunt) did a film for newsround as well called "The Wrong Trainers" which, I thought, was actually rather good.

I think that's all I have to say for today. Sayonara; Finn.
